The boat was built by Tom Isaac from a frame kit supplied by Lauterbach. The frames, engine stringers and bow piece were all built by Henry/Larry with the rest being built by Tom. The design was the same as the "Screaming Mimie" which later became the "Bluewater Special". The following changes were made to the design with input from the Lauterbach's. The lift in the bottom was increased by 3/8" by raising the front 3 frames and bow piece. The cockpit was moved back 6" to increase strut weight for a 3 blade propeller and all Okume plywood was used to decrease weight. The end of '82, we decided to widen the transom of the boat to increase the speed in the second half of the corner to keep up with the cabover's with great success. In '83 I won numerous heats of racing, beating at one time or another all the fastest boats of the time. There was steady grumbling by the cabover owners about cheating and on Saturday at Essex Md. I was protested and the engine was disassembled and found to be totally legal. From there we went to St. Pete and won two out of 4 heats. The boat later was also run very competitively as a 2.5 Mod. and then a 6 Liter.
